Facial hair transplants have gained favour with those men who have sparse facial hair, facial scars or patchy hair growth on the face. Exuberant facial hair has long been associated with masculinity and prestige in many cultures.

Modern technology has made it possible for facial hair transplants to be performed by highly specialised medical practitioners using specialised equipment.

ARTAS hair transplantOne of these innovative, new techniques is the ARTAS®, a highly specialised piece of equipment.
ARTAS® is a robotic procedure which decreases scarring, surgeon fatigue, guess work and recovery time after the procedure.

ARTAS® was used in the first beard transplant in January 2016. The technology was used to graft 1658 grafts in one procedure. This harvest was implanted into the facial area of the patient to get a more consistent beard area.
The results obtained six months later were lauded by experts in the field.

How does the ARTAS® work?

At the first consultation with the practitioner, a 3D model is created using the specific software for ARTAS®.

You get to see what the end result might be. This programme will also highlight the number of grafts required to achieve your desired look and the best hairline in your individual case.

The technology is then used to identify the best hair to harvest and use in the graft. This area is called the donor area and mainly involves the sides and the back of the head. The robot has very advanced software with artificial intelligence to ensure only the best hairs are harvested but in no way affecting the natural appearance of the donor area.

Once the donor areas are identified, the robot selectively and precisely harvests the healthy hair.

Your 3D model from your first consultation is downloaded into the robot. The doctor then fully controls the transplant using the ARTAS®, ensuring that existing healthy hair is not damaged in any way.

ARTAS® eliminates any human error or fatigue but improves on the speed and accuracy of the procedure. The quality and consistency of the implant is also ensured because the tenth implant is of the same quality as the hundredth.

ARTAS® has a specialised vision system that can track hair about sixty times per second eliminating any potential errors.

This minimally invasive technique will allow you a rapid recovery so that you can get back to your daily life as quickly as possible.

You can expect noticeably thicker hair growth in about six months.
