Hair transplants and scars
SMP® provides two solutions for hair transplant clients, to camouflage strip and FUE scars created by hair restoration surgery, and to provide an illusion of greater density for those clients with insufficient donor hair

As our reputation has grown, we have found that more and more hair transplant patients would like to enhance their look by utilising SMP®. As a result, some of the worlds most respected hair restoration clinics now refer clients to us, either prior to, or following a hair transplant procedure.
WHY A HAIR TRANSPLANT ISN’T ALWAYS ENOUGH
Hair transplants usually work because the hair being transplanted is more resilient than the hair that is lost, and is therefore more likely to remain on the scalp for an extended period of time.
One of the main reasons why clients are unable to create the effect they are looking for, is because they have insufficient donor hair to cover the balding area. This is especially common amongst those with more advanced hair loss.
A large proportion of hair transplant patients have enough donor hair for a transplant, but not enough for a perfect finish. The result is often disappointing, with less density than the patient would desire. A thin covering of transplanted hair could also mean that scars caused by hair transplant surgery are poorly concealed.
CAMOUFLAGING HAIR TRANSPLANT SCARS
Although hair transplant techniques have undoubtedly improved in recent years and cause less scarring than they used to, due in part to widespread use of less invasive FUE (follicular unit extraction) techniques, all transplant clients are still left with permanent scarring following their procedure.

SMP® is often used as an effective scar concealment method, making them far less visible than they previously were. The technique can benefit all transplant patients, whatever their hair length, and regardless of whether or not their transplant surgery was originally combined with a full SMP® treatment.

WHAT LEVEL OF CAMOUFLAGE IS POSSIBLE?
Exactly how well a hair transplant scar can be hidden depends on the scar itself, however most clients experience a level of camouflage of at least 70%.

It is worth mentioning that the results shown above, were taken following just one SMP® session. A significant improvement can already be seen, and has enabled our client to confidently wear his hair shorter. Further improvements will be made during the second session to fully disguise the hair transplant scar. Furthermore, we have also treated his thinning crown area to make his hair appear more dense.
Our SMP® treatment successfully camouflages a hair transplant scar allowing men to be able to cut any remaining hair very short without worrying about their scars being exposed or visually noticeable.
Traditional hair transplant surgery involves the removal of a strip of skin complete with the follicles from the donor area at the back of the head, leaving a hair transplant scar across the back of the scalp.
Although developments in treatments such as Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) have reduced the extent of scarring in some patients, many people find themselves in a position where their transplant scars cause them more anxiety than their hair loss did in the first place. SMP® can be used to effectively camouflage these types of scars.
In addition, not all individuals are suitable for a hair transplants as participants require sufficient donor hair from the back of their head. Used in conjunction with SMP®, less donor hair is required, meaning more people could potentially become suitable for a hair transplant treatment if they desire. Each micro hair is individually crafted to perfectly replicate a working follicle, providing not only a darker scalp, but the real illusion of thicker, fuller hair.

Like most clients, Callum (above) was left with a hair transplant scar following a routine procedure. SMP® has enabled Callum to hide his scar, and now feels much happier, as people are now far less likely to find out about his surgery.

Warren (above) was left with a deep hair transplant scar after his surgery. Following his SMP® camouflage treatment, the scar is now much less obvious.

All of the clients on this page have been successfully treated by HIS Hair Clinic using the SMP®, and we treat more clients in similar situations on a daily basis. Results vary from simply making scars less obvious, to almost total camouflage of some scars.

Every client is different, and so is every hair transplant scar. To discuss your own requirements please feel free to contact us.
