Thinning hair doesn't have to be a problem

One of the many benefits of the MHT Technique is that clients are able to specify their preferred hair density

To many clients, especially those who have been dissatisfied with the results of a hair transplant, being able to finely tune their hair density may sound too good to be true, however MHT® really does enable the client to leave thinning hair behind, and recreate the style they always wanted.

Jon (above) still had a reasonable amount of hair, therefore in his case, it was particularly important that the density of his MHT® treatment perfectly matched his existing hair. If you examine his hairline on the right hand side, you’ll notice remnants from a hair transplant procedure carried out several years ago. Unfortunately, Jons thinning hair had continued to recede after surgery, however we were able to apply the MHT® technique to the affected area, to rectify the problem.

You can read Jons story here.

What is the MHT® technique capable of?

The needles used for MHT® treatments are highly specialised, and are specifically designed by HIS Hair Clinics for scalp pigmentation treatments. Depending on the clients requirements, we primarily utilise a combination of three needles, one with a single point, one with three points, and one with five.

We can achieve densities of up to 500 penetrations per square inch of scalp, multiplied by the number of needles for each penetration. In other words, based on the maximum penetrations of 500 per square inch, and by using a five point needle, we can achieve 2500 pigment deposits per square inch of scalp, each one designed to replicate a single hair follicle.

It is important to note, however, that more is not always best, in fact we rarely apply the technique to its maximum density. The actual density recommended depends on existing hair, skin tone and style requirements.

After several years suffering from increasingly thinning hair, Dan (above) was almost completely bald when he came to HIS Hair Clinics, so he could have created virtually any style he wanted. Dan felt however, that a dense look would have been too significant a change, and therefore opted for a lightweight, low density style.

What should I consider when deciding what hair density I want?

The MHT® technique provides more than just a cover-up. The HIS team work hard to ensure that hair loss is not only covered, but the resulting style is one that the client is both happy with, and can live with over the long term. The main factors that make up this style, is the mix of pigment colours, the hair density replicated and the frontal hairline.

By far the most important consideration when establishing what hair density is required, is the density of any existing hair on the scalp. For a 100% natural look, the application of MHT® must match what hair is already present on the scalp. If the client is completely bald, there are many more options available, as the treatment is not required to match with any existing hair.

Skin tone also plays a part in determining what hair density would be most suitable. Generally speaking (although not true in all cases), men with dark or tanned skin suit denser treatments, whereas those with lighter skin, and certainly those with very pale skin, suit lower density options. This is largely due to the differences in hair thickness and texture, evident in people from one ethnic group to another.

Kevins combination of pale skin and existing hair (above) meant that his treatment density had to be selected with great care. To read his full story please click here.

Finally, the desired style should also be considered. Very defined styles, as demonstrated on our hairlines page, often require high hair density treatments. Also consider your age, and how you’d like to appear as you get older. Most people would agree that less dense styles look more natural as a person ages.

Ultimately, it is our job to ensure you are thrilled with the outcome of your treatment.
