There was a time when people could only speculate if a celebrity had had a hair transplant. These days, far from keeping people guessing, they post blogs pictures and vlogs of themselves before and after, and occasionally images of the procedure itself.
The latest celeb to take to Instagram is 23-year-old Lloyd Daniels, the X Factor star who shot to fame in 2009 when he came fifth in the competition.
There’s no such thing as bad publicity
Whilst probably happy to court the publicity, Lloyd claims his main aim in posting about his journey to a full head of hair again is to support others who might be considering the procedure. As he points out in his blog “I hope this inspires some of you to make a step if you feel how I’ve felt for a long time,”.
Although still far from cheap (at approx. £10,000) transplants are becoming increasingly popular, and not just amongst celebrities. Success rates are up whilst healing time and scarring is down, mainly due to the development of new techniques in the last few years, whereby individual follicles can be transplanted from one part of the head to another without removing strips of skin as well.
Other hair loss treatment options
Another option for anyone who’s happy to have a “bad boy” crew cut is Scalp Micropigmentation. This increasingly popular baldness treatment is less invasive than a transplant, has guaranteed results and almost no recovery time. Over a couple of sessions, a professional will create a surprisingly realistic 3d effect of layered hair using organic pigments and micro needles. It’s also cheaper than a transplant.
If you’re a young man losing your hair and you’ve taken some inspiration from Lloyd’s posts then perhaps get in contact with a specialist hair loss clinic who’ll be happy to advise you on the best options for you, your hair and your wallet.
