predict hair lossThe most common form of hair loss is androgenic alopecia, which is a hereditary condition.  This means that to a certain extent it’s always been possible to predict at least the potential for hair loss.   It’s not been an exact science though and there are still myths perpetuated, even now that male pattern baldness can be predicted based upon genes inherited from your mother’s father.

Adrogenic alopecia – dependent on genes from both parents

The truth is that that the condition is actually dependent on a combination of inherited genes from both parents.  Of course, the likelihood of premature baldness is more likely if there’s a history of it in the family but there’s no guarantees either way. According to an article in GQ online, Recent research into the effects of dihydrotestosterone (DHT) on hair follicle has discovered a link between the body’s sensitivity to the hormone and the likelihood of premature balding.  Because susceptibility to the hormone can be deduced from the DNA it’s now possible to produce a reasonably accurate prediction of hair loss by taking a swab of saliva from inside the cheek.

Shave the lot off and go for SMP
